Austria Guest Controller Approval Policy

The Austria Division is partaking in the Guest Controller Approval ("GCA") Policy which is stated in the IVAO Rules and Regulations as follows.

2.2.2: Divisions may restrict ATC positions by an FRA and/or GCA. These restrictions shall be published on the respective division website.

T.2 Divisions may require members of foreign divisions to obtain a Guest Controller Approval before providing ATC services. Divisions shall announce their participation and publish their requirements on the division’s website. Such GCA requirement(s) shall be published on the division website in English language.

T.2.1 All users with an ADC (or higher) rating can apply for a GCA.

T.2.2 The GCA shall only be used to determine if a user is able to properly apply the local procedures on the respective FRA restricted position. Divisions may require a checkout to assess the level of competence. Divisions reserve the right to revoke a GCA in case the required level of competence is no longer met.

T.2.3 Training Director, Training Assistant Director and Senior Training Advisors are allowed to log into any ATC position on the network regardless of GCA restrictions for training and exam purposes.

Restrictions

• ADC rated for at least 3 months
• Theoretical and practical knowledge, specifically about the LOVV FIR and the LoAs (depending on the position)
• 3 hours of ATC service per quarter
• Non-German-speaking members are restricted to positions at LOWW or LOVV_CTR, as these are positions where, according to AIP Austria, the German language should not/may not be used.
• The GCA Checkout is only valid for one airport; for additional airports, another checkout must take place. A checkout for LOVV_CTR is valid for all airports.

Upon receiving the GCA, you may control the item(s) published on the GCA site under the following conditions:

The GCA may be withdrawn by Division HQ at any time if the requirements are no longer met.

To request a GCA, please email at-training@ivao.aero with the following information: Your VID, current ATC rating and ICAO code of the airport you wish to be ATC at. Also describe your intentions for your request and give us a brief description of your knowledge as an air traffic controller. Please write everything in German language.
